End of August

It started to be a great month with the llama birth but ended sadly.  He wasn’t strong enough to nurse from mom who wanted him to do so badly.  We have concluded he was a premie as well as he didn’t weigh more than a couple sacks of potatoes.

So I went on the hunt to improve our 2 llama herd.  We have found a wonderful llama farm east of Springfield who had so many to choose from.  We made some choices, and had a great educational, informative afternoon with a lady who has been raising llamas for 30 yrs.  On the way home we planned out additional pastures and llama houses, giving up some crop land to this expansion.

All the new ladies have medium weight fiber and several have a suri fiber (corkscrew) background.  It will be lots of fun the next few years!
